Oven-baked Steak with “Monkeygland” Sauce
„ Monkeygland-what ? ! ? “
I distillery remember my first holiday in South Africa in 1994 when I was served a dish, whose name pushed me to the brink of my culinary permissiveness. In the days leading up to this event, I had already politely declined helpings of Mopani worms and “ Walkie Talkies ” ( chicken feet ) .
But monkeygland sauce has nothing to do with primates. It consists of normal ingredients and goes wonderfully with burgers and steak. I even use it to give boiled green beans a morsel of dynamism .
For the recipe which I want to share with you, the steak is baked, not braaied or fried. Do I hear person gasping in shock ?

This recipe goes well with baked potatoes & sour cream, baked potatoes, brown university mushrooms and a crunchy green salad .
A useful trace : I normally start the bake potatoes ahead of time by pre-roasting them at 200 degrees Celsius. I then reduce the heat and add the casserole dish to the potatoes in the oven. About 20 minutes before the end of cook prison term, add the brown mushrooms in a classify humble casserole. That way, all dishes will be done at the lapp prison term .

I am a capital lover of south african Shiraz. Groot Constantia Shiraz is a bang-up option for this sophisticated steak. Going binding to 1685, Groot Constantia is the oldest wine-producing farm in South Africa and loved as a national prize. Their shiraz impresses through insidious notes of licorice and black pepper. Tannins are soft and do not distract from the beautiful volume of this wine. It is a wine for a extra affair .
I prefer to cook with good quality wines. good cuisine requires good ingredients. One of our staple house-wines is Porcupine Ridge Syrah. We often enjoy a glass of this fantastic value-for-money wine during the week, for braais. As an put up of celebrated Boekenhoutskloof Estate, Porcupine Ridge shows an luxury of taste normally only found in much pricier wines .
You can get many great south african wines from Capreo. This German-based, reputable on-line wine store delivers to most countries across Europe including the UK. If you order wines via the link provided, I will earn a small perpetration. This does not at all impact the monetary value you pay .
